When Nikki Haley, daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, went to work in New York City on April 21, she received a call from a senior adviser, telling her she was being promoted to a full-time position at her father’s company.
“She said, ‘You are the next big thing.’
That was the day she quit,” Haley said of her early childhood experience.
“I don’t know what I would have done.”
The young entrepreneur, who graduated from the University of Virginia, has a new role at Trump Organization, the first woman to do so in the world’s richest country.
“That’s really cool,” Haley told Mashable, adding that she will always have a personal relationship with Ivanka Trump.
“Ivanka has given me the chance to do things my dad didn’t do, and I will be proud to be part of that.”
Haley said she and Ivanka Trump’s parents were very close.
“They were very supportive, and we have a lot of respect for each other,” she said.
“But they didn’t see me as a daughter, or a son, they saw me as an entrepreneur, so they thought I was just another one of the girls on the playground.”
The youngest of six children, Haley said her dad was “a really big inspiration” to her.
“He told me, ‘If you don’t want to work, then you can’t have a job,'” she said, laughing.
“We were always trying to do what we wanted to do.
I never thought about being a model or anything like that.
I wanted to be a dancer, I wanted a singer.
I didn’t want anything that would make me look like I was working.”
The daughter of a high school teacher, Haley was the only daughter of three and a half siblings.
“My mom was always the biggest inspiration to me,” Haley added.
“Her idea of being a great woman was to work hard and have a good life.
I’m so proud of that, and to be able to have that influence on her.”
When she was young, Haley attended the private Catholic school of St. John Vianney, a boarding school in New Jersey, where she became interested in music and acting.
She enrolled in the acting program at St. Anthony’s University, where the director of its college theater program, Robert Schuller, was a mentor.
“Robert was very interested in my personality,” Haley recalled.
“And he encouraged me to be more outgoing, to be less shy, to get into trouble, to always be different.
So that helped me grow as a person.”
The mother of three is an avid fan of the television show Game of Thrones, and she said she was thrilled when she found out about her father in January 2016.
“It was the most amazing feeling,” she recalled.
Haley, who said she is now an avid gamer, said she has been reading her favorite books, movies and TV shows since she was little.
“You just want to play all the time,” she laughed.
“To me, that’s what the world is about.”
The new role comes just weeks after Trump announced his support for a child care plan that would provide parents with financial and logistical support for childcare.
“Our president is really pushing for this, and he is so supportive of the idea that parents should have financial flexibility,” said Haley.
“This is a great way to help them and support their career and their career,” she added.
Haley said the plan would also help parents of children ages 5-8, who currently cannot receive the federal government’s government-funded child care subsidy.
“The cost of child care is really, really expensive, and the federal dollars we are getting are just not enough,” she explained.
“So the plan is really good for families and good for parents.”
Haley told reporters in March that she had a “great feeling” about the president’s plan, adding, “I know he has been a supporter of the children’s program for a long time.”
Haley was honored to be the first in her family to graduate from college, and said she wanted to continue to pursue her entrepreneurial endeavors.
“All of my life I have been a fan of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship is a big part of my identity,” she told Mash.
“A lot of my work has been really inspired by my father and my mother, who are really great role models.”
Haley has also been working with her father to raise funds for a new charity called the Children of Donald Trump Foundation.
“If you look at my story, I’ve never worked for money,” she continued.
“At work, you can really focus on your work. “
When I’m at home, I’m not the most money-driven person, but I think when I go to work I’m actually the most efficient person,” she concluded.
“At work, you can really focus on your work.
But you can
